Trade Finance Senior Manager

Summary of the Role :

  • Manages and leads a team of Sales Manager(s) to generate sales through new to the bank and to trade clients. Able to provide direction in assessing opportunities within the marketplace and ensuring the solution within the Trade Finance meets specific needs.
  • Through strong leadership the role holder is responsible for managing and coordinating Trade Finance sales activity in the provision of customized and complex domestic and cross-border trade products and services to priority/strategic potential clients.
  • The role holder participates in strategic decisions to drive the Trade Finance business forward. Working with relevant stakeholders the role holder will often combine acting as the senior calling officer with supporting the design and pricing of solutions for new client deals
  • The role holder is responsible for driving revenue growth through transactional fee income, deposit revenue together with other working capital management products and services to maximize commercial profitability and relationship depth. 



  • Maximizes revenue growth through business development
  • Develop effective strategies for winning new clients in order to generate new income for the Group.

  • Identify new sales opportunities in the form of new to bank or new to trade alongside Relationship Managers
  • Manage pipeline of new customers and follow end to end sales process as defined by Business Development Transformation
  • Work closely with sales colleagues to promote awareness of Trade Finance products, strategies and competitor information amongst the RM and other strategic business communities.
  •  Maintain awareness of the applicable regulatory and business environment: understand audit, tax and legal implications and changes as they affect he customers and the Bank.
  •  Managing growth and development of Sales managers


Experience Required :

  • Extensive knowledge of global trade finance, services, products and techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of the market & market trends, competitive environment and regulatory environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of Trade Finance back and front office area
  • Detailed knowledge if Credit & Risk including techniques to mitigate risk
  • Sales Management experience at a senior level including dealing with senior executives plus a proven sales record
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Trade related industry qualifications            
  • Experience in leading a sales team, managing people development and growth. Strong leader and motivator
  • Strong sales, interpersonal, communications, leadership, negotiation, analytical, presentation and decision making skills
  • Good organisational skills with an ability to effectively prioritise and meet critical deadline
  • Strong commercial orientation combined with a customer driven approach
  • High level of commercial knowledge
  • Ability to interact with senior executives
