Reporting to the Team Underwriting Manager (Ireland), the role holder will deliver exceptional customer service acting as part of the underwriting team, “approach to customer service.


The team is responsible for underwriting new and existing business in support business plan across our core business areas  


  • · Develop, negotiate and profitably underwrite new/existing business within own authority and in line with the strategy
  • · Plan, prioritise and manage individual work to deliver agreed objectives and meet SLA’s to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • · Act as a referral point for the team providing coaching, training in an appropriate time frame
  • · Use the appropriate method of communication (telephone, face to face) to support approach to maintain successful Internal and External Relationships.
  • · Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve own performance
  • · Identify opportunities to improve current work methods, practices, and processes
  • · Understand and operate within the regulatory framework and identify and escalate any risks to the business
  • · Identify complaints, act upon them and resolve in line with company policy
  • · Conduct audits and provides feedback, coaching, and training as appropriate
  • · Improve the quality of underwriting and risk selection in support of the delivery of financial objectives
  • · Deputise for / provide support for team manager as and when required
  • · Actively expand personal technical and niche knowledge both informally (networking internally and externally, internet, industry press) and formally (In-house training, CII, CPD)



  • · CIP qualified and working towards MDI
  • · Significant experience in Underwriting – in commercial property and liability
  • · Watson Glaser 40th percentile or above (will be tested)
  • · Market, Industry, and Company knowledge
  • · A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service
  • · Appropriate IT skills (will be tested)
  • · Strong verbal communication skills
  • · Proven track record in applying critical thinking as part of the underwriting process
  • · Experience of acting as a coach within a commercial environment
  • · Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment
